At BARLATËS we have vowed to make pilates pilates again.

In a new trendy watered-down world of fake mat pilates we’ve vowed to bring back your classical moves so that you actually do pilates.

Both our barre and pilates classes will be heavily rooted in their original methodology, bringing us back to the basics but keeping up with the fun contemporary class style that you know and love!

MAT PILATES

Classical Meets Contemporary

Pilates was invented in the early 1900s by Joseph Pilates, a German boxer and physical rehabilitation enthusiast. He created the method to help injured soldiers and dancers build strength, alignment, and control using breath and precise movements. He called it Contrology - because it was never about big muscles… it was about mastering your body from the inside out.

This is pilates the way it was meant to be: intentional, effective, deeply connected, and rooted in alignment and control. Pilates blends therapeutic, precise foundations of the 32 classical movements with the smooth, modern transitions of contemporary work. The results? Classes that feel intelligent, grounding, strengthening, and unbelievably good on your joints.

Expect deep core activation, posture work, breath-led movement, spinal mobility, and those “ohhh, that muscle exists?” moments.

Every exercise has a purpose — nothing is random, nothing is wasted. This is where you rebuild your foundation, reconnect with your body, and learn how to move well again.

All of our classes will incorporate OG classical pilates moves, contemporary movements AND at least one mat-reformer movement as well! We will also be offering a full Mat-Reformer class using lots of props to mimic being on a reformer machine

BARRE

Sculpted Strength with a Ballet-Inspired Glow

Barre was created in the late 1950s by Lotte Berk, a German dancer living in London who wanted a way to stay strong and rehabilitate after a spine injury.

She blended ballet positions, physical therapy, and strength exercises — and boom, barre was born. It started as this chic underground method for dancers and socialites… and now it’s one of the most popular low-impact sculpting workouts in the world.

Barre is your go-to if you want that slow, satisfying burn that sculpts everything — arms, legs, glutes, core — without feeling overwhelming or high-impact. It blends ballet-inspired movement, tiny pulsing isolations, and elegant strength training that makes your muscles wake up in the best way.

BARLATËS SCULPT

The Signature Experience (Barre + Pilates Fusion)

This is the class that defines our studio — the best of both worlds.

BARLATËS Sculpt combines the grace and burn of barre with the core-powered precision of pilates to create a full-body experience that feels elegant, athletic, and deeply satisfying.

Expect low-impact strength work paired with core-focused pilates and ballet-inspired standing sequences. Thoughtful transitions lengthen and sculpt the body, while mindful movement leaves you feeling energized, aligned, and radiant.

It’s challenging but not punishing, energizing but not chaotic.

MAT-REFORMER PILATES

Reformer-inspired. Mat-based. Totally approachable.

Mat Reformer is designed for anyone who’s curious about reformer pilates but doesn’t love the idea of jumping straight onto the machine.

Using sliders, bands, light weights, blocks, and other creative props, we recreate the feel, resistance, and precision of reformer exercises right on the mat. You’ll learn the foundations of reformer-style movement, build deep core strength, and understand how each exercise is meant to feel in your body.

This class is supportive, intelligent, and incredibly effective.

You’ll leave feeling stronger, more connected, and confident — whether you stay on the mat or eventually transition to the reformer with ease (like at our next location!)

ADULT BALLET CLASSES

Adult Ballet Drop In Classes - LAUNCHING MARCH 15!

This is ballet taught the way it’s meant to be taught - by real ballet dancers, with proper technique, structure, and progression.

We are starting off our ballet series with individual ballet classes every Sunday. These carefully curated classes are designed to teach you the foundations of ballet, the grace of a professional dancer while you have some fun along the way!

Beginner Ballet 8 Week Program (Launching later - but soon!)

Our Adult Ballet Program is a thoughtfully designed 8-week series created for adults who want to truly learn ballet, whether for the first time or as a return to the art form. Classes follow a traditional ballet structure, building strength, coordination, musicality, posture, and grace over time.

Unlike drop-in classes, this program is progressive. You’ll commit to the full 8 weeks, attend once weekly, and grow week by week - gaining confidence, technique, a deeper understanding of ballet fundamentals and a little choreography!

Mommy & Baby Postpartum

A Gentle Return to Strength, Together - LAUNCHING March 16!!

This gentle, supportive class is designed to help mothers ease back into movement after birth in a way that feels safe, intentional, and empowering. With a focus on core rehabilitation, posture, breath, and overall strength, each session supports the body’s natural healing process while gradually rebuilding stability and confidence.

Babies are welcome to relax beside you, allowing you to move at your own pace while staying close and connected. Just as important as the movement is the sense of community - this class offers a calm, welcoming space to connect with other mothers in your neighbourhood who are navigating the same season of life.

Thoughtful, low-impact exercises help restore the deep core, support pelvic health, and gently reintroduce full-body strength, leaving you feeling supported, cared for, and a little more like yourself again.

Perfect for: mothers who want to move gently, support their postpartum recovery, and enjoy a sense of connection and community with baby by their side

Mommy & Baby Pilates package is NOW AVAILABLE. These classes are only available to members with this package. You’ll get 4 credits for 4 classes and you’ll have 8 weeks to use them.
